MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE SE VENDIO EN GLEE !!!
My Chemical Romance guitarists Frank Iero and Ray Toro have insisted they were thrilled to let the Glee cast cover their hit single Sing and become the first rock band after the Slash and Kings of Leon debacle to feature on the hugely popular TV show.
Glee gave the song their full treatment in an episode this week and immediately afterwards ‘Sing it for the world,’ the chorus line, shot to the top of the most searched terms on Google.
And Toro reckons having their music featured on the smash hit show is another way for the New Jersey rockers to have their music heard.
He told RockAAA:
“With the record industry the way it is now, with pop music the only thing dominant, I think you have to make choices like this to make inroads into things.”
Although the show is massive news across the world fellow guitarist Iero reveals he hasn’t actually hasn’t seen much of it. He explained:
“I only saw the show twice after we were asked to do it and I don’t think there is anything like that on television. My least favourite parts of the actual show is the singing; I think as that is a bit too much like Grease.
“But the actual show is funny first of all but to also have such an openly gay character going through things says something about the times – so I was excited to be a part of something which is so forward like that.
“And I think we were the first rock band to do it too.”
Kings of Leon and Slash both famously snubbed the chance to have their music featured on the show which prompted a furious reaction from Glee creator and writer Ryan Murphy who branded the band ‘assholes’ and the ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist ‘uneducated,’ which Iero feels was unnecessary.
He continued:
“I think it is any band’s prerogative not to do Glee or anything else they don’t want to do.
“I did think having a go at them was a bit unprofessional. If a band doesn’t want to do something they should be allowed to say no without someone coming out and saying ‘fuck them’.
“That was really dumb and I lost a little respect for them through that but we’d already said yes by then (laughs).”
This week a Gibson Guitar poll named Rolling Stones classic (I can’t get no) Satisfaction as the experts choice of greatest ever riff with the public nod going to Guns N’ Roses’ Sweet Child of Mine.
Toro and Iero, both expert riff masters in their own right, told RockAAA which of their own riffs they were most proud of.
Iero said:
“Satisfaction is a pretty memorable riff and it is a song which you could name after hearing only two notes and Keith Richards is amazing. I don’t know if it would be No1 on my list and I would have maybe picked Paint It Black.”
Toro added:
“What’s great about the Satisfaction riff is it is so simple. That’s actually what makes a good riff.
“Of our own riffs with My Chemical Romance one of the one’s I’m most proud of is Thank you for the Venom. I don’t know how I came up with that as I was just moving my fingers around one night and finishing off four notes in and thinking where I could go next.
“But there is a lot of cool stuff. To The End has a cool thing which Frank does. It’s funny as we have different styles and think differently but I have no idea how he could play the riff. It is a weird repeating thing but it’s cool and it blows my mind.”

Toro y Iero, ambos maestros experimentados en riff tienen lo suyo, por lo que dijeron a RockAAA cuales son sus Riff de los cuales se sienten mas orgullosos.
Iero dijo:
"la satisfacción es muy memorable en un riff, y es una canción que se podría nombrar sólo después de escuchar dos notas y Keith Richards es increíble. No sé si sería número 1 en mi lista y probablemente lo tomo, por que escogeria a Paint It black ".
Toro agregó:
"Lo que es genial sobre la satisfaccion de un Riff es la simplicidad. Eso es realmente lo que hace un buen riff.
"De nuestros propios riffs con My Chemical Romance una de los que estoy más orgulloso esta en Gracias por el veneno. No sé cómo vino,yo solo estaba moviendo mis dedos una noche, y termino con cuatro notas y pensaba que es lo que sigue.
"Pero hay un montón de cosas interesantes. To The End tiene una cosa divertida que Frank hace. Es curioso como es que tenemos estilos diferentes y pensamos diferentes, pero no tengo idea de cómo el podria tocar el riff. Se trata de una cosa extraña y repetitiva, que a la ves es genial y hace explotar mi mente.
